HVAC ACOUSTIC SCREENS INSTALLATION - CASE STUDY

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A shopping centre in Southeast Queensland needed to reduce rooftop plant noise reaching nearby residences, without shutting the centre down to do it.

Safetylyne engineered and manufactured and installed acoustic screens around the plant zone facing the residential boundary, added a new plant deck, and built compliant maintenance access into the same scope.

Safetylyne completed the full install, deck and six screens combined, in two days on a live, trading site.

THE BRIEF

Control rooftop plant noise reaching nearby residences and give maintenance teams safe, compliant access to the plant, as one integrated scope

KEY CHALLENGES

Noise needed to stay contained to the residential boundary side of the site, without screening the full roof. The plant deck, screens, and access systems had to go up fast on a live, trading site

HVAC ACOUSTIC SCREENING PROJECT FOR A SHOPPING CENTER IN SITU

Noise Control Screens Installation Project For A Commercial Building

This commercial site stayed open and trading through the entire installation process. Safetylyne team installed acoustic screening systems for a shopping facility.

Safetylyne built a plant deck to carry the rooftop equipment, then installed six acoustic screens around the zone facing the residential boundary. Maintenance access came from the same scope, so the finished system gives the centre noise control and safe long-term servicing without a second project bolted on later.

Why Partial Screening

Screening the entire roof would have added cost, weight, and visual bulk the site didn't need. The noise issue was directional, coming from one plant zone toward the residential boundary, so the screening solution matched that footprint exactly. This is the kind of scoping decision that separates an engineered acoustic solution from a standard product install.

HVAC Maintenance Access Built for Ongoing Compliance

Rooftop plant needs regular servicing long after the installation day. Compliant maintenance access was part of the original brief, not a retrofit added once the screens went up, so the centre now has a documented, standards-aligned maintenance access to reach the plant deck and roof plant equipment.

 • Two days installation total - plant deck and all six screens, start to finish
 • Zero trading disruption - full install on a live, operating site
 • Targeted noise coverage - screening only the zone facing residential properties
 • Built-in compliance - maintenance access designed alongside the acoustic solution
