Static Lines for Height Safety

Static Line Systems for Working at Height

Static line systems are engineered to provide continuous fall protection across rooftops, plant areas, and other elevated work zones. When combined with a self-retracting lifeline or lanyard, they allow safe, unhindered movement along the full length of the system. This ensures workers can carry out inspection, servicing, and maintenance tasks with reliable fall arrest protection.

Key Features of Our Static Lines

 • Durability and Strength. Made from high-quality materials to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
 • Custom Design. Tailored solutions to meet the specific requirements of complex access systems projects.
 • Compliance. Meets all relevant safety standards and regulations, providing peace of mind.
 • Versatility. Suitable for various industries, ensuring safety across multiple applications.
 • Ease of Installation. Designed for quick and easy installation, minimising downtime and disruption.

Benefits of Using Static Lines

 • Continuous Safety. Provides constant protection along the entire length of the line.
 • Enhanced Mobility. Allows workers to move freely and safely while remaining securely attached.

WHAT ARE STATIC LINES?

Static lines are safety systems designed to provide continuous fall protection for workers operating at heights. They consist of a horizontal lifeline system that workers can attach to, allowing them to move safely along the length of the line.

HOW DO STATIC LINES WORK?

Static lines work by providing a secure attachment point for workers. The line is anchored at both ends and tensioned to provide a stable and secure lifeline. Workers attach their harnesses to the line using a lanyard, which allows them to move freely while remaining securely connected.

WHERE CAN STATIC LINES BE USED?

Static lines are versatile and can be used in various industries, including construction, mining, food manufacturing, cold storage, HVAC maintenance, and large commercial solar installations. They are ideal for any environment where workers need to operate at heights.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED IN STATIC LINES?

Our static lines are made from high-quality, durable materials such as stainless steel ensuring long-lasting performance even in harsh environmental conditions.

Sometimes rope lines are mistakenly referred to as static lines, but they are temporary safety solutions, in contrast to the permanent static line systems that we install.

ARE STATIC LINES COMPLIANT WITH SAFETY STANDARDS?

Yes, Safetylyne's static lines comply with all relevant safety standards and regulations, ensuring that your safety system meets the highest levels of safety and compliance. Learn more about Australian Roof safety Guidelines here.

HOW EASY IS IT TO INSTALL A STATIC LINE SYSTEM?

Our static lines are designed for quick and easy installation. Our team of experts can provide a tailored solution that meets your specific requirements, ensuring minimal disruption to your operations.

WHAT MAKES SAFETYLYNE'S STATIC LINES DIFFERENT?

Safetylyne's static lines are designed with a focus on durability, compliance, and ease of use. We manufacture all our roof safety systems in-house, which guarantees quick installation and minimum work downtime at your facility.

WHAT'S THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF HORISONTAL STATICLINE?

In Australia, the design and installation of static lines (horizontal lifeline systems) are governed by AS/NZS 1891.2 for fall-arrest devices, ensuring that systems meet specific safety standards for protecting workers at heights.

Generally, we do not recommend static lines longer than 300 meters, however, longer static lines can be strategically engineered if required, depending on the project.

The lengh may depend on several factors.

Intermediate Supports: In longer installations, intermediate supports or anchor points are typically required every 10-15 meters to manage sag, maintain tension, and ensure the structural integrity of the system. This allows the static line to span longer distances safely.

Deflection Limits: To meet the fall arrest standards, the static line must limit deflection (the amount it stretches or sags when loaded), ensuring the user doesn’t fall too far before the line arrests their fall. This means tensioning devices or energy absorbers may need to be incorporated.

In extreme heat conditions, static lines can expand, which must be considered at the engineering and installation stages.

Compliance with AS/NZS 1891.2: This standard outlines specific performance requirements for fall arrest systems, ensuring that they are suitable for use over extended distances and are regularly tested to ensure worker safety.

While static lines can be quite long, it's essential to consult with qualified engineers and system designers to ensure compliance with Australian standards and that the specific use case is safe and effective. Benefits of Static Line Systems with Anchor Points

Incorporating static lines with strategically placed anchor points can significantly enhance safety and efficiency.

Anchor points serve as secure attachment locations for safety harnesses and other fall protection equipment, providing reliable means for workers to secure themselves while performing tasks at height. By integrating anchor points into static lines, you ensure continuous protection along the entire length of the work area.

Considering anchor points during the construction stage is crucial. Early planning and installation of these safety features reduce the need for costly retrofits and modifications later on. It also ensures that your building or structure is equipped with the necessary safety elements from the outset, promoting a safer working environment from day one.
